New Jersey Association of School Business Officials

2012/13 Incentive Grants

NJASBO wishes to encourage its Active Membership to seek professional development and recognition by participating in ASBO International's various award programs. By doing so, New Jersey School Business Administrators will become more effective business managers and educational leaders in their respective school districts. ASBO International has developed three programs in particular that are available to members and non-members. Namely; they are:

Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations (SFO) - The Mark of a Professional, the Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations defines the essential skills and knowledge that every effective school business professional should possess. (More Info at www.asbointl.org)

Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting – This recognition program encourages and recognizes excellence in the preparation and issuance of a school system's Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports. (More Info at www.asbointl.org)

Meritorious Budget Award – The Meritorious Budget Award was designed to recognize school entities that demonstrate excellence in school budget presentation. (More Info at http://www.asbointl.org/)

For the 2012/13 School Year, NJASBO will provide the financial support and funding for any “Active Member”* who wishes to apply for any of the above recognition awards. Active Members must write (Email) to the Executive Director of NJASBO expressing their desire to apply for funding to support the cost of application fees. (The Active Member must identify the exact amount of the application fee being requested.) Once approved (Email) by the Executive Director, NJASBO will forward the appropriate application fee to the district to be included with the formal application to ASBO International.

As funds may be limited, requests will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. There are no qualifying requirements (other than being an Active Member) for those wishing to apply. (For more information, contact John Donahue, Executive Director)

*An Active Member is someone who pays full membership dues based upon percent of salary. Does not include Associate Education or Associate Business Members.
