Dear Fellow NJASBO Associate Business Members,

As a 25 + year member of NJASBO, I am proud to lead an organization of compassionate people who are dedicated to supporting the school districts of our great state. As Presidents before me have done, I embrace the core values that our organization needs to followAs Business Partners, we pride ourselves on a strong work ethic and the ability to get things done. We take the time to understand how our experiences can help others and appreciate that each new situation requires careful study and reflection.

School Business Administrators count on the Associate Membership to be a valuable resource, in both good times and bad, to provide guidance and support so they can make informed decisions. The world of school business is a challenging one wherein the laws of the state and the guidelines an administrator and their boards of education must follow are constantly evolving. As our membership continues to grow steadily, I am happy to see that our parent organization values what we bring to the discussion. It is my sincere hope that all of you understand it is a privilege and not a right to be in a partnership with our school districts. We have a wealth of knowledge to offer from a wide variety of professional backgrounds, disciplines and experiences and as respected “partners”, we should always be looking to maximize what we as a group can bring to the NJASBO table.

I encourage all of you to get involved in what we do. This is YOUR organization and while we have a tremendous leadership team that is always looking for more opportunities to be of service, we are only as good as our supporting players. The more input and ideas we have to work with, the more we can accomplish together. Your opinions matter and they are heard. We never know where the next great suggestion will come from!

You also have a wonderful opportunity of being nominated for our Associate Business Member Partner of the Year Award. This honor is presented in front of the entire state membership at the June Conference. If you do something great, we want you and your firm to be recognized for it.

I am honored to be President of this incredible group. I want us to have a positive impact on NJASBO while leaving a respected legacy for the 2017-2018 school year and I have no doubt all of our goals will be achieved.

Best regards for a great year!

Susan Thames-President- NJASBO Associate Business Members
