March 23 NJASBO Update
FOOD SERVICE VOUCHERS, CASH FLOW ISSUES, LEGISLATIVE UPDATE, VACANT BUILDINGS & WEBINAR
Food Service & Vouchers- Please be advised that the state departments are working on procedures related to meal vouchers referenced in the bill A3840/S2281 which was enacted as PL 2020, c. 6. We have been in conversations with them and they are actively working on guidelines. As soon as we get the specifics we will send them out as a Key Alert.
Cash Flow- Members have shared questions and concerns regarding cash flow as the pandemic continues. The Department of Education has confirmed that state aid payments will be processed as always. Additionally, they have communicated with the DCA that municipalities continue to make tax levy payments to school districts given schools' inability to borrow. We encourage you to have current and continuing dialogues with your municipal officers.
Legislative Bill Status- The legislative bill summary on the NJASBO website has been updated to indicate which bills the Governor signed on March 20, 2020. Legislative Update 3.20.20
Vacant Buildings- Thank you for those who responded to yesterday’s email and who have vacant buildings. There is no need to reply if you do NOT have such a building or buildings. If you have a vacant building and have not replied it would be helpful to have the information soon.
Webinar/Conference Call- We have been asked by the Office of School Preparedness to share the attached memo regarding a webinar/conference call that will be held tomorrow, March 24th 2020 at 2pm.
