P.L. 2020, C. 44 Reminders & Update-
Reminder Open Enrollment is required for all employees hired prior to 07/01/2020: Prior to January 1, 2021, each employer shall provide an enrollment period during which all employees who commenced employment prior to the effective date (July 1st, 2020) of this act shall be required to select affirmatively a plan provided by the employer. If an employee fails to select affirmatively a plan during this enrollment period, the employer shall enroll the employee, and the employee's dependents if any, in the New Jersey Educators Health Plan or equivalent offered pursuant to subsection a. of this section for the year January 1, 2021 until December 31, 2021.
Any changes brought about by the implementation of C.44 that would have a negative effect on district finances are subject to negotiations. See Section 8 of the law. Chapter 44
